Today, menopause is “having a moment,” and midlife women are demanding better menopause care, discussions about menopausal hormone therapy, and approaches to healthy aging. Unfortunately, there is an enormous care gap. There is a shortage of physicians/clinicians trained to provide the midlife health and menopause care women need and deserve. This in-person and virtual CME course is designed to address the gaps in the knowledge of clinicians caring for midlife women.
The inadequate number of practicing clinicians with training in midlife women’s health and menopause dates back to 2002, and the initial publication of the results of the WHI, and the media storm that followed. The risks of hormone therapy were blown out of proportion to the actual data, and the impact was enormous. Overnight, women and the physicians and clinicians caring for them became fearful of hormones and stopped prescribing them. Education of residents, medical school, and nursing school students about menopause and the appropriate use of hormone therapy stopped. The use of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) immediately plummeted, and even today, in 2025, estimates are that only 4% of women who are appropriate candidates for MHT are receiving it. Two decades of almost absent education in menopause and midlife women’s health care means that today, most physicians/clinicians practicing know little to nothing about MHT and menopause care.
This comprehensive menopause and women’s health course is intended to advance midlife women’s health and menopause knowledge of clinicians of all specialties, including primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, gynecology, WHNP, CNP, and PA. This course will provide a comprehensive, evidence-based overview of topics pertinent to midlife women, including menopause and perimenopause, current data around the use of menopausal hormone therapy and how to prescribe it, sexual health, medical breast and genetics, mental health, bone health, and others. Attendees will gain practical knowledge that they can use immediately in their clinical practice.
Please join us in our nation’s capital for this comprehensive women’s health and menopause course.
