Dr. Sydney Larkin Proffer answers the most pressing questions about facial laser treatments. This session covers the benefits, safety, and options available for women seeking skin rejuvenation and care through advanced laser technologies.

Sydney Larkin Proffer, MD, MPH, is a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetics Fellow at Northwestern Medicine with a diverse background in clinical practice, research, and leadership. She earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and mathematics from Middlebury College, followed by a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Arizona State University. Dr. Proffer completed her medical degree at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, an internal medicine internship at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, and a dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Proffer has published extensively on topics such as dermato-oncology, cosmetics, exosomes, hair loss, and skin cancer reconstruction. She is a peer reviewer for leading dermatologic surgery journals and an active member of organizations including the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Proffer holds several leadership roles, serving on the Board of Directors for the ASDS and in advocacy, as well as on committees for mentorship and international recognition. A dedicated volunteer with the Women’s Dermatologic Society, she is also an ASDSA Advocacy Ambassador and has served on the boards of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association and the American Medical Women’s Association. In her free time, Dr. Proffer enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
